A man was arrested in connection with a burglary in Hull on Christmas Day

A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after his alleged victim noticed he was wearing his stolen coat, police said.

A house was burgled in Newstead Street in Hull on Christmas Day and a television, jackets, Christmas gifts and fishing gear were taken.

On Tuesday, the victim spotted the man wearing one of the jackets and called the police.

Officers arrested a 46-year-old man at a property in Newstead Street.

A search of the house uncovered other items believed to have been stolen from homes in the area, police added.

Insp Lucy Keevan said: "Officers continue to conduct lines of enquiry surrounding this report and other incidents whilst reviewing those items recovered.

"The man remains in our custody assisting officers with lines of enquiry."
