Two teenagers killed in car crash named
Two teenagers who were killed in a crash in East Yorkshire in the early hours of New Year's Day have been named.
The collision, involving a Volkswagen Golf and a Vauxhall Grandland, happened at about 01:20 GMT on Wednesday in Staithes Road, Preston, near Hull.
Two passengers in the Golf, William Herbert, 16, from Howden and 18-year-old Olly Mitchell from Ellerton, both died.
The 17-year-old male driver of the car has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.
Two other passengers in the Golf were seriously injured.
A 16-year-old girl remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition along with a 17-year-old boy who is in a serious but stable condition, Humberside Police said.
A passenger in the Vauxhall, a man aged 62, was taken to hospital with serious injuries along with the driver, a 34-year-old woman, who sustained a serious arm injury.
Two other passengers in the car suffered minor injuries.
The arrested teenager has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
