A woman has been killed and another seriously injured in a two-car crash in North Lincolnshire.

The cars collided on the A1077 between South Ferriby and Barton-upon-Humber at about 07:45 GMT on Thursday.

The driver of a black Volkswagen Polo, a 49-year-old woman, died at the scene, Humberside Police said.

The driver of the other car, a 22-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed for a number of hours.

Investigators appealed for witnesses and any dashcam footage of the incident.

Later on Thursday, there was another crash on the same stretch of road.

Three cars collided at about 19:45 GMT near the junction with Gravel Pit Road, Humberside Police said.

Nobody was seriously injured in the crash.

A 55-year-old man was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident and has been released with no further action, the force added.
