A cat has suffered life-changing injuries after being shot with an air rifle.

Gloucestershire Police said the incident happened in Cashes Green, Stroud, at about 16:15 GMT on 9 January.

The pet, called Mittens, underwent emergency surgery and a pellet was found lodged in her right eye. Vets were unable to save the eye, which has now been removed.

Officers have conducted house-to-house enquiries and are urging anyone with CCTV or doorbell footage of the incident to come forward.
