Man taken to hospital after being hit by car

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Gloucester.

The 35-year-old was injured on Barton Street at about 23:10 GMT on Tuesday and was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment.

The incident, involving a Skoda car, took place near the junction with St James Street. The road was closed for several hours afterwards but has since reopened.

Gloucestershire Police have asked witnesses to contact them.
