New travel app launched at world heritage site
A new on-demand travel service is due to launch at Shropshire's Ironbridge Gorge world heritage site on Monday.
The service - which is managed using an app - advises residents and visitors on the best travel option for them, including tips on whether to use the on-demand shuttle bus or existing bus routes.
As well as traditional bus stops, the app will also have virtual stops across a wider area that are shared with the user through the app and based on their location, according to Telford and Wrekin Council.
The local authority said if the scheme was successful, it could be used elsewhere in the area.
"This is an exciting new development - the on-demand app brings a level of flexibility that will significantly improve travel for residents and tourists alike," said councillor Ollie Vickers.
"We're keen to invite people along to help us test the app and make sure it works for everyone so if you would like to get involved, please get in touch - we'd love to have real feedback from a range of people."
Initially, the service will operate from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 17:30 GMT but this will be reviewed ahead of the busier summer months.
The app is available for download now, from both the App Store and Google Play.
