A two-year-old girl has been left with injuries to her nose, lip and cheek after she was attacked by a dog in West Sussex.

Police say the girl was bitten by a small, dark-coloured, terrier-like dog in Brookfield Park, Rustington, at about 15:30 BST on Sunday.

She is currently in hospital receiving treatment for the lacerations to her face, according to Sussex Police.

The force said no one was seen with the dog at the time of the attack and is asking anyone who saw the incident, or could help to identify the dog's owner, to get in contact.
