Wartime explosive discovered on Portobello beach

Portobello Beach was temporarily closed after a munitions device was found

An unexploded wartime bomb has been found on Portobello beach in Edinburgh.

Police were called to the scene at about 09:50 and part of the beach was cordoned off near the junction of King's Road and King's Place.

An explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) unit was called and carried out a controlled explosion.

The beach was reopened and police confirmed there was no further threat to the public.
