Brittany Ferries is taking the Jersey politician responsible for negotiating ferry services to court.

Minister for Sustainable Economic Development Deputy Kirstin Morel awarded the contract to Danish company DFDS at the start of December.

After losing out on the tender, the French company, which owns previous provider Condor, has launched legal action against the deputy.

On Monday, the Royal Court allowed the company to challenge the decision to award the contract to DFDS.

The court said: "There are no pleadings in the public domain which the court can share at this stage."

In October, Guernsey chose Brittany Ferries to run its sea links.
