The new ferry company for Jersey says it is still finalising its travel schedule for the island.

Jersey chose Danish firm DFDS to provide its lifeline passenger and freight services at the start of December.

However, Guernsey chose Brittany Ferries to run its sea links in October.

DFDS said it was in discussions with port authorities in Poole, Portsmouth and Saint-Malo and that it expected to release its final timetable at the start of 2025.

'Diverse needs'

The company said it understood people wanted to see the new schedule "as soon as possible" but it was working with all stakeholders to finalise the departure and arrival times for all its routes.

Chris Parker, route director Jersey for DFDS, said it was important to get the schedules right.

He said: "We appreciate that everyone is keen to learn about the schedules, and we are working to get this done as quickly as possible.

"Our focus is to get the schedules right and we want to make sure that we consider all the diverse needs of the island for both passenger and freight transport, as well as the operational dependencies of the ports we serve."
