Museum up for award weeks after reopening

A museum and art gallery in Cornwall has been shortlisted for an award just weeks after reopening following refurbishment.
The Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery has been nominated for an award at the 2025 Museums and Heritage Awards.
The museum, is one of six to be recognised in the category of Permanent Exhibition of the Year, which celebrates the creation or redevelopment of permanent displays.
The Truro landmark reopened earlier this month after a £2.3m refurbishment project.
'Fantastic news'
The shortlist includes entrants from across the UK as well as museums and galleries from other countries including Norway, Egypt and Australia.
The museum said the shortlisting recognises the impact of the £476,000 redevelopment of the Mineral Gallery, which was completed in 2024.
The landmark homes a variety of 12,000 minerals, which showcases 3,500 years of mining history in Cornwall.
Bryony Robins, the museum's co-director said they were "thrilled to have received the recognition".
She added: "There is a real buzz around the museum right now, as we build on the momentum from our recent reopening and now this fantastic news."
The awards ceremony takes place on 15 May in London.
