Young dad named as victim of 'targeted attack'

A 19-year-old man who police believe was deliberately knocked down and killed has been named locally as Brandon Kershaw.

Mr Kershaw, who was father to a two-year-old girl, died during an incident on Porritt Street in Bury at about 20:10 BST on Monday.

A card with the words "Love you, Daddy", has been left with flowers at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police Det Supt Wesley Knights said a man in his 30s was in custody for questioning over what the officer called a "targeted attack".

Det Supt Knights said: "I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family of the deceased during this incredibly difficult time."

He asked witnesses or anyone with video footage from the area at the time to contact police.

Bury Council posted on X: "Road closures are in place at Porritt Street and Hawk Close following an incident last night to allow for police investigations.

"It means there is no access to St Pauls County Primary School which is closed today.

"Huntley Mount Medical Centre is open."
