Officer charged with drink driving on way to work

A serving police officer has been charged with drink driving after he was involved in a crash while on his way to work.

Officers were called to Deansway, Worcester, at about 06:45 GMT on Tuesday following reports of a collision.

Liam Williams, 20, was arrested at the scene of a single-vehicle crash and will appear at Worcester Magistrates' Court on 25 March.

West Mercia police confirmed "he was on his way to work" but not driving a police vehicle at the time of the crash.

The force also confirmed no one was injured in the collision, and Mr Williams is a serving police constable based at Worcester Police station.
