A man has appeared in court charged with murder following a death in Beverley town centre.

Matthew Phillips, 44, died in hospital after being found injured in Lairgate early on Saturday morning, Humberside Police said.

Timothy Tinson, 43, of no fixed address, appeared at Hull Crown Court on Thursday.

No pleas were entered during the hearing and Mr Tinson was remanded in custody.

He will appear again before the same court on 10 March.

A trial date has been set for 4 September at Grimsby Crown Court.
