People are being asked for their views on how they think key streets in Hull should be improved.

Hull City Council will be holding six events throughout February. An online survey will also be launched on 31 January.

The council added it has earmarked £6m for improvement works on high streets around the city following the recent work in the Stepney area Hull.

Councillor Jack Haines said the events would help with "sustaining thriving communities".

He said: "The council is committed to supporting all areas of Hull, not just our city centre.

"Local and neighbourhood centres are vital to sustaining thriving communities and our multi-cultural and diverse centres should be celebrated.

"It is pleasing that the council is able to dedicate the Community Highstreets scheme to ensuring their long-term sustainability and I look forward to hearing the views of residents and stakeholders."

The events include:

  • Anlaby Road/Coltman Street – Maurice Rawlings Community Centre, 41 Bean Street, on Monday 3 February, from 15:00 to 19:00 GMT
  • Gipsyville – Gipsyville Library, Hessle Road, on Wednesday 5 February from 10:00 to 14:00 GMT
