Tourists cut off by tide rescued by lifeboat crews
This is the moment a group of tourists were rescued by lifeboats after a coastal walk saw them cut off by the tide.
Two RNLI crews from Porthcawl, Bridgend county, set out to bring the group to safety, as they weren't from the area and were unsure of their precise location.
After a search beginning at Ogmore Deeps – rocky terrain near Ogmore-by-Sea, Vale of Glamorgan - the walkers were spotted below the cliffs near West Farm, Southerndown.
"The fact they had a means of calling 999 and asking for the Coastguard in this time-critical rescue was a lifeline," said Chris Missen, helm of the Atlantic 85 lifeboat.
The charity is urging people to enjoy spending time by the coast safely as summer approaches, by checking tide times and having a means of calling for help.
