The A303 in Somerset has flooded after heavy rainfall

The A303 westbound in Somerset will be shut for a couple of days after heavy rainfall caused flooding.

National Highways South West has closed the road between the A37 Ilchester and the A3088 in Yeovil.

Flood water is running from a field next to the carriageway, which has been collecting water since Storm Ciarán.

National Highways said it will take a while to clear surrounding roads which are also flooded.

The A303 westbound entry slip road from the A37 is also closed and contractors are working at the scene.

Drivers travelling westbound are advised to divert using the A37 northbound due to other local roads being flooded.
