People have been warned to keep doors and windows closed due to a smoke plume from a serious fire at a farm where several businesses are based.

A main road through Farthinghoe, near Brackley, Northamptonshire, has been closed while the incident is dealt with.

The fire broke out at lunchtime at Greenacres Farm on the A422 between Banbury and Brackley.

Businesses based at the farm include an antiques dealer and a car repairer.

Emergency services say the operation on-site could continue for some time.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The road is likely to be closed for some time, so please avoid the area if possible.

"We are also asking people in the area and in and around Brackley to close windows and doors as there is a smoke plume moving towards the town."
