Brighstone house fire forces residents from their homes
People living near a house fire on the Isle of Wight were forced to leave their homes overnight.
At its height, crews from five stations across the island tackled the blaze in Gaggerhill Lane, Brighstone, after it broke out shortly before 02:00 BST.
The fire service said firefighters had managed to stop the blaze spreading to neighbouring homes.
Crews remain at the scene damping down the blaze externally as the roof of the home collapsed during the fire.
The fire service said officers from its Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team were at the scene to assess the safety of the structure.
If it is deemed safe, fire investigation officers, alongside police, will then enter and work to establish the cause of the fire.
People living nearby were urged to keep their windows and doors closed overnight due to smoke in the area.
