Student woke screaming as storm ripped off roof
BBCA student woke up screaming when Storm Ciarán blew the roof off her attic bedroom, leaving her covered in debris.
Katie Marsh was in her shared house in Falmouth, Cornwall, when it happened at about 05:30 GMT on Thursday.
The storm caused widespread damage across the county, with many trees coming down across roads.
Ms Marsh said it was "terrifying" and her first thought was to "save my laptop because I have got a lot of uni work on there".
The zoology student said the fire service attended and said the room was "uninhabitable".
Her landlord said he was working to get the roof repaired, and she was trying to find alternative accommodation in the meantime.
Ms Marsh said: "Our roof completely blew off and collapsed into my room on top of me. I think most of the roof is gone now. I was screaming quite loudly - it was very shocking.
"All the plaster and the beams fell onto my bed and woke me up. I'm trying to figure out where I am going to stay, how I am going to get my stuff moved and figure out what is damaged."
She said: "It was terrifying. I tried to save my laptop because I have got a lot of uni work on there and I knew it was under the roof so I got that out."
The debris from the roof landed on the street below.
