Control zones in place following Calveley bird flu case

A further case of bird flu has been confirmed in commercial poultry in Cheshire.

Temporary control zones of 3km and 10km have been put in place around the site.
It comes after avian influenza was found in birds in a commercial premises near Crewe on 22 January.
Control zones have also been established around premises near Tarporley and Aldersey.
The UK has recently seen a large number of outbreaks and incidents of the H5N1 strain of avian influenza in birds across the country, which while highly pathogenic in birds has been said to pose a low risk to people.
