Staff at Bath and North East Somerset Council are facing a pay cut at the beginning of June

Members of three unions - Unite, the GMB and Unison - planned to walk out on Tuesday after rejecting an earlier deal.

Unison says further talks with the publicly-owned company will be held to avert a strike on Tuesday.

Managers say the scheme, designed to avoid compulsory redundancies, does not apply to care staff.

Phlebotomists who specialise in drawing blood are locked in a dispute over pay and grading.

Both the EIS and Unison opened their indicative ballots on Thursday after a dispute was lodged with university officials in March.

Workers will walk out on Tuesday and Wednesday following a one-day strike last month.

Phlebotomists from Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General hospitals are on strike.
