The family of a 15-year-old boy who was killed while crossing the road have paid tribute to a "gentle giant".

Christopher Dobson was hit by a black VW Golf GTI as he was crossing Bradford Road in the Eccleshill area of Bradford at about 22:45 BST on Friday, according to West Yorkshire Police.

He was taken to hospital but later died as a result of his injuries.

A 35-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and a drug-driving offence had been bailed, police said.

In a statement, Christopher's family described him as a "gentle giant loved by all who knew him.

"He was the best son, grandson, brother and nephew you could ask for," they added.

"Though Christopher's life was cut short, the love, kindness, and joy he shared with all who knew him will never be forgotten."

Christopher's family expressed their thanks to "friends, family, the local community and emergency services, who have shown overwhelming support at this difficult time".

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police asked anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has dashcam footage, to get in touch.
