A murder inquiry is under way after a man was found with stab wounds and later died.

Police were called at 23:37 GMT on Thursday to a property in Maldon Close, Reading.

The victim, in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 49-year-old Reading man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, Thames Valley Police said.

Det Insp Rob Underhill said: "We are confident that there is no wider risk to the community and that the victim and offender are known to each other.

"There is a scene watch in place at the address while the investigation continues.

"This is likely to remain in place for some time and I would urge anybody who has any concerns to please speak to any of our officers."
