Victorian building to be turned into apartments

An historic Victorian building is to be converted into 18 new apartments.
Plans have been approved to rennovate the Grade II listed Industrial Tribunals Central Office Property Centre in East Parade, Sheffield.
Originally built in 1825, it was altered during the 20th century and has been used for a variety of reasons, including as a boys' school and offices
The applicant said the plans would restore "the building's appearance to its former beauty" and provide the city with "much-needed housing".
Documents submitted to Sheffield City Council said the building had been poorly maintained over the years, with the original timber windows being replaced and the current windows not being looked after, leading to some rotting.
The plans include the removal of graffiti and cleaning of the façade as well as the re-introduction of a stone balustrade to the front façade "to ensure the appearance of the building is historically accurate."
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the applicant said: "Our proposal aims to have as minimal impact on the aesthetic of the historical asset by utilizing the existing features in the building.
"These proposals are sensitive to the historical significance of 14 East Parade whilst giving the building a new lease of life."
