A woman has died in a crash involving a car and a lorry on the A75 in Dumfries and Galloway.

Emergency services were called out to the incident between Annan and Eastriggs at about 09:30.

The 36-year-old woman - who was driving a black Ford Ka - was pronounced dead at the scene.

The route remained shut for investigation work late on Wednesday afternoon, and a diversion route was in place.

Sgt Colin Ramage said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died at this difficult time."

He said inquiries were ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash and asked anyone who witnessed it to get in touch.

He also appealed for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
