A former children's care home is to be sold off with a guide price of £750,000 as part of efforts to plug Bradford Council's budget gap.

Valley View, off Lister Lane, was closed by the local authority in 2022 as part of a shake-up of its care home systems.

The authority previously said the building did "not provide a physical environment that is consistent with the care of children", the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

The 2.6 acre site has been listed in an online property auction to be held on 28 January.

"The property is sold with vacant possession and may represent a redevelopment opportunity, subject to any necessary consents," the listing states.

The site features various accommodation, ancillary buildings and gardens.

"The pleasant local area is of mixed-use with residential housing and St James Community Hall being immediately adjacent to the plot," it continues.

"The area to the north of the site is residential housing, with Peel Park located to the south."

The property is one of more than 150 buildings and sites the council is selling to raise cash to improve its financial sustainability.
