'Hairy hands' warn students against thefts

"Hairy hand" leaflets are being used to warn students to be vigilant against opportunistic thefts.
Part of a campaign by Durham Police, they depict a hairy hand on one side and have crime prevention advice printed on the other.
They warn students in Durham of the need to keep their households secure when they go out to celebrate the end of term.
Officers have been out and about in the city checking properties, and while most were secure, several of the "hands" were posted through open windows.
The team also gave advice to students who had left their doors insecure, asking them to be extra vigilant and not give thieves the chance to make off with their valuables.
Insp Dave Clarke, from the Durham City neighbourhood team, said: "We had a great time out and about engaging with students who quite rightly want to celebrate the end of year and let their hair down after exams.
"And whilst everyone we spoke to saw the entertaining side of our campaign, we do have a serious message asking all students to be extra vigilant at this time of year."
Police are also working with Durham University and landlords to look at ways security can be further improved at student houses.
