A town centre road in Surrey has been shut as panels have become dislodged on a hotel development due to Storm Darragh.

On Saturday, Woking Borough Council said Victoria Way was closed in both directions because of damage to the exterior rainscreen panels on the lower levels of the development.

Other panels were also at risk, the council added.

No injuries or damage to other buildings or vehicles has been reported.

The council said Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, Surrey Police, building control officers and representatives from construction contractor Sir Robert McAlpine are on site assessing the situation.
