Illegally parked cars seized amid six-month crackdown

Vehicles parked illegally in alleyways or on double yellow lines have been removed as part of a six-month crackdown.
Since November, more than 20 illegally parked vehicles have been removed from Broadgreen by Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire Police.
Alleyways in the neighbourhood are considered public highways and need to be left clear for both the public and emergency services to use, the council said.
PCSO Mark Chivers of the central south neighbourhood policing team said: "Illegal parking within Broadgreen has consistently been raised by residents as one of their main concerns."
Motorists who had their vehicles towed could be required to pay "up to £250 to have their vehicle released," the council added.
Councillor Chris Watts said: "It was a great effort by the local community, councillors and the police to lead on cleaning up Broadgreen."
The project also targeted fly-tippers in the area.
