The council launched the fourth round of the community infrastructure levy fund last spring, to fund community infrastructure projects

Village halls, community spaces and youth centres are among projects across Cornwall to share about £1.9m in grants from the council.

Cornwall Council announced funding from the community infrastructure levy (CIL) for 23 projects to benefit communities and support development.

It said more than £5.7m of the funding has been awarded to projects across the county since the first round in 2020.

Cabinet portfolio holder for housing and planning, Olly Monk, said: "With this funding we are able to support many worthwhile schemes and organisations working to improve facilities and access to opportunities."

"There are many organisations working to improve life for our communities and I am pleased we are able to put CIL funding to very good use."

Between 15-25% of the levy goes to the town or parish where the development has taken place, with 5% being retained by Cornwall Council towards the cost of running CIL.

The remainder is used to deliver infrastructure projects to help alleviate the wider impact of development.

Bodmin College, Village Hall and Walled Garden Charity and St Mabyn Peace Memorial Hall are among the successful projects.

Applicants needed to show local need and community support for their project and demonstrate how the projects would help alleviate the impact of development in an area or support development.
