Appeal over moped trio who tried to rob woman's bag

Police are investigating after three people on a moped tried to snatch a woman's handbag.

Nottinghamshire Police said the woman managed to wrestle her bag back before fleeing into a nearby house, while the attackers fled the scene in Mansfield.

The force said it is investigating the attempted robbery, which happened in Jubilee Way North at about 18:25 GMT on Saturday.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery on Sunday, police confirmed, adding that inquiries are ongoing to track down other suspects.

The moped had a broken number plate, front-end damage and was reportedly seen riding around Mansfield throughout the day, the force added.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses and say they want to speak to the victim, who did not report the incident herself, so has yet to be identified.

Det Insp Mark Booth said it was a "very serious incident" and asked for the victim to contact the police "so we can track down those responsible".
