Charity hit by flooding comes together for carols
A homeless charity is trying to get back on its feet after "devastating" flooding during Storm Bert.
Doorway's base in Chippenham town centre is expected to face months of repair work after flood water damaged the building.
Jo Kitching, CEO of Doorway, said they want to raise as much money as possible in order that they "don't fall over" as a result of the floods.
"The floors are up, the plaster's coming off the walls, all of our equipment is gone. The whole kitchen is being ripped out because it's being contaminated by flood water, so there's a lot to do."
While many of charity's services continue at Chippenham's Rotary Hall and community hub, the scale of the damage at its base is yet to be determined.
Doorway is the main support service for rough sleepers, homeless people and those at risk of homelessness in this corner of Wiltshire.
Carol singers made up of previous beneficiaries and volunteers joined together on Tuesday to raise money for the charity.
Doorway guest Julian said he did not know where he would be without Doorway's support.
"When I first came to doorway I was sleeping rough in hedges and barns and things like that," he said. "It [the flooding] was devastating - it was hard to understand the extent of it."
Susan, who has also received support from Doorway, said: "I was rundown, I was on the street, and now I've got a place of my own and I'm very happy.
"I'm giving something back of myself to doorway, because they deserve it," she added.
