Organisers of a seaside town's famous airshow are welcoming the return of the Red Arrows.

The distinctive red Hawk jets have been a regular fixture at the Clacton Airshow but were unable to make it last year as they were in Canada.

They will return to headline both days of the event - now in its 32nd year - on 21 and 22 August.

Ivan Henderson from Tendring District Council said he was thrilled to make the announcement and described the team as "the stars of the airshow circuit".

"Their breathtaking aerial displays will captivate the crowds," he said.

"They are a massive attraction for both the general public and aviation enthusiasts."

The Red Arrows team serves as the public face of the Royal Air Force, acting as ambassadors for the United Kingdom at home and overseas.

Based at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire, they have flown almost 5,000 displays in 57 countries since they began in 1965.
