Six incidents were reported in Cambridge between January and February

Police investigating trains being damaged by projectiles have arrested a 16-year-old boy.

The six incidents happened near Cambridge North railway station between 18 January and 2 February.

The BBC understands catapults were used in the attacks, which disrupted services and left several trains with smashed windows.

British Transport Police said the teenager was released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of endangering safety on the railway.

The force said its inquiries into the incidents were ongoing and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
