Five arrested after woman, 47, dies following crash

Five people have been arrested after a 47-year-old woman died following a crash.

It happened in Hightown, Wrexham, shortly after 21:30 GMT on 24 March.

A silver Mercedes car made off from police and collided with a Toyota car between Belgrave Road and Percey Road.

The woman, from Wrexham, one of the occupants of the Toyota, sustained serious injuries and died in hospital on 26 March.

A man, who was also an occupant of the Toyota, was transferred to hospital were he continues to receive treatment for life-changing injuries.

Two men, the driver and a passenger of the Mercedes, left the scene of the incident.

On Thursday, five people were arrested.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, while enquiries are ongoing to locate a second man who left the scene.

A 20-year-old woman, two men aged 37, and a 50-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The 22-year-old man and the 20-year-old woman have since been released on conditional bail as enquiries continue.

The 50-year-old, and the 37-year-old men remain in custody, where they are being interviewed by detectives.
