Man arrested after pedestrian dies in crash

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and causing death by dangerous driving after another man was struck by a car in South Yorkshire.
Officers were called to Bawtry Road, in the Cantley area of Doncaster, at 23:30 BST on Saturday to reports of a collision involving a white Vauxhall Astra GTC and a pedestrian.
The 55-year-old died at the scene. His family was being supported by officers, police said.
The road was temporarily closed following the collision but has since fully reopened.
