The first weeks of meteorological spring saw rain, cloud, sunshine, fog, snow and hail in the north-east of England and Cumbria.

In meteorology, the 1 March marks the start of spring, whereas astronomical spring will start this year on 20 March.

Our Weather Watchers captured the unsettled start to the season.

Here are some of our favourites.
