The Lincolnshire Suicide Prevention Network has been set up to create a collaborative approach to support those in distress

A network has been set up in Lincolnshire to better support people who are at risk of taking their own life.

The Lincolnshire Suicide Prevention Network involves academics, volunteers, members of the public, people with lived experience, and professionals in relevant fields to support those in distress.

Lincolnshire County Council said the organisation recently held its first meeting in Sleaford.

A council spokesperson said the aim of the network was to create a collaborative approach to raise greater awareness of how to prevent suicide.

'Help generate ideas'

Wendy Bowkett, the authority's executive member for adult care and public health, said: "The new network aims to increase involvement in suicide prevention efforts across the health sector, businesses, schools and our local communities.

"Working together, we can be more effective and deliver initiatives that may not be achievable when working independently.

"It will be an opportunity to share skills and experience and help generate ideas for campaigns and collaboration.

"Ultimately, it will mean better outcomes for those needing our support."
