Police cordoned off the entrance to a shopping centre in Hull earlier over concerns of a suspicious package.

Sniffer dogs were brought in to search boxes located outside the entrance to the Prospect centre.

The junction of West Street and South Street was closed at 07:20 BST.

Humberside Police said a package was examined and "no issues" were found. The cordon was lifted at 08:30.

In a statement, the force said officers were sent to the scene after a member of the public reported concerns about the package.

"We would always encourage anyone who is concerned to contact police, as the report received today was with good intent, and we will always look to protect the public and ensure their safety," a spokesperson added.
