A man has died following a crash involving five vehicles on the M62.

Emergency crews were called to a serious collision on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 37 at Howden and 38 at North Cave at about 16:40 GMT on Wednesday.

A red DAF truck, white Toyota Yaris, grey Toyota Aygo, grey Peugeot and a red Kia Nira are believed to have to have been involved, Humberside Police said.

The driver of the Aygo, a 62-year-old man, died at the scene, a spokesperson said.

His family have been informed and are being supported by officers.

A passenger of the Peugeot, a 52-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the force said.

The M62 was shut in both directions between the two junctions following the crash.

The motorway fully reopened at about 02:00 GMT on Thursday, National Highways said.

Humberside Police is appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident to get in touch.
