A former Thames Valley Police (TVP) officer has been given a suspended jail term after he tried to engage in sexual communication with a child.
Daniel Hunt, 32, was a police constable and based in Maidenhead, Berkshire, when the offence took place in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, on 14 December 2023.
TVP said he was arrested on 25 January 2024 and suspended. He resigned from the force in November.
He admitted the offence at Oxford Magistrates' Court the same month and was given an eight month custodial sentence, suspended for 18 months, at the city's crown court on Wednesday.
Hunt, from Southampton, will also be subject of a sexual harm prevention order for seven years.
TVP said a misconduct case into his offending is under way.
