Body recovered from loch where 15-year-old paddleboarder was missing

The body of a male youth has been recovered from a Fife loch where extensive searches were taking place for a missing 15-year-old paddleboarder.

Emergency services were called to Loch Ore in Lochore Meadows Country Park near Lochgelly at about 17.25 on Saturday after receiving a report of concern for a male who had been on the water.

The fire service and coastguard were involved in the searches and Police Scotland said at about 13:20 that the body of a male youth had been recovered from the loch.

Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of the 15-year-old paddleboarder reported missing on Saturday have been informed.

The force said there were not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
