Volunteers wanted to help with general election

A call for "friendly, enthusiastic volunteers" has been made by the States of Guernsey to assist at polling stations for the island's general election.

The election will take place on 18 June, with two advance polling days on 15 and 17 June.

Volunteers provide general assistance to voters under the guidance of polling station officers.

Jax Robin, who acted as a polling station officer in the island's first island-wide election in 2020, said: "It's a good way to show your commitment to our island and its future."

A States spokesperson said the shifts would be two hours long and available from 07:30 to 08:30 GMT each day.

Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of two shifts and no experience is required as a briefing session will be provided.
