Work on major route to last almost three months
Essential maintenance on a major route into a city centre is expected to take almost three months, a local authority has said.
Work on stretches of Oxford's Cowley Road, between Union Street and Divinity Road, is scheduled to start on Tuesday.
Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) said the project would continue until 11 April - subject to any bad weather or unforeseen circumstances.
The works include paving repairs and the installation of additional drainage.
OCC said it hoped to keep traffic disruption "to a minimum", while signs and barriers would be put in place to show where the works were being carried out.
"Contractors will ensure that affected properties are communicated with directly in advance of any major disruption and throughout the work in their vicinity," the council said.
"There may be some noise disruption during these operations, although the contractor has been asked to keep this to a minimum.
"They will also be able to direct pedestrians to ensure the safety of the public and workforce during working hours."
