Two due in court over violent disorder

Two men have been charged in connection with violent disorder in Halifax.

Officers responded to reports of fighting, with weapons and vehicles involved, on Mile Cross Road on Wednesday afternoon.

Sohaib Tahir, aged 36, of Westbury Place, Halifax, and Uzair Mahmood, aged 24, of Rhondda Place, Halifax, have been charged with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon.

Both men are due to appear before Leeds Magistrates' Court later today.

Officers have also confirmed they have arrested three further men in connection with the incident.

Three men previously arrested in connection with the incident have since been released pending further investigations and a man also arrested earlier remains in custody.
