Driver arrested after woman and four children hurt

A 47-year-old man has been arrested after a crash which left a woman and four children injured.

At about 19:10 GMT on Sunday, a grey BMW I5 M60 xDrive crashed into trees on Park Road, Peterborough, near the Princes Gate junction, said Cambridgeshire Police.

The front passenger, a 46-year-old woman from the city, suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. Four children aged four, six, 15 and 16, who were the rear passengers, suffered minor injuries.

The driver, who also had minor injuries, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving with excess alcohol. He remains in custody. Police have appealed for witnesses.
