Crowds turn out for RAF Waddington's city parade

Hundreds of people have lined the streets of Lincoln to watch personnel from RAF Waddington exercise their Freedom of the City.

About 100 personnel, including an RAF band, marched from St Martin's Square, down High Street and to City Square.

There was also a flypast by the Red Arrows.

The base was awarded the Freedom of the City in 1959 as a mark of respect and appreciation for their service.

Station commander Gp Capt Dominic "Dutch" Holland said: "It was a wonderful opportunity for not only myself in command of RAF Waddington but also the personnel who serve on the station to be able to present and process through the city.

"It's great for us within our local community. We're all part of one big team."
