People needed for Veganuary university study
Researchers at a university in Devon are asking for volunteers who are going vegan for January to take part in a study.
University of Exeter researchers want 200 people who currently eat meat and are taking part in Veganuary - where people adopt the vegan diet during the month of January - to sign up to their study.
They will be comparing habits and attitudes before and after the diet.
University of Exeter PhD researcher Sophie Hearn said previous research revealed those who took part had "lasting habits" and consumed reduced amounts of meat.
'Number of benefits'
She said: "Our new study aims to help people feel more confident in making plant-based choices.
"This could further enhance how effective Veganuary and similar initiatives can be in the longer term."
The study involves completing a series of short surveys until May.
Prof Natalia Lawrence, at the university, said: "We know that reducing meat intake can have a number of benefits including on health, the environment, animal welfare, and on finances."
