A man has been jailed after a 22-year-old man was stabbed to death.

Kevell Blake, 21, of Bromshill Drive, Cheetham Hill, was found guilty in May of the manslaughter of Badri Issa and was sentenced to eight years in prison on Friday.

Manchester Crown Court Mr Issa was stabbed on Moss Lane East shortly before 20:00 BST on 25 October 2023.

Det Chief Insp Andy Naismith from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said Mr Issa "tragically lost his life as he tried to keep the peace and de-escalate a situation".

'Agitated and aggressive'

The court heard that, on the day of the attack, Mr Issa had met a friend to go to the gym.

They were travelling along Princess Road towards the city centre when they noticed a white car driving next to them and trying to get their attention.

Raami Mohamed, 22, who was driving the white vehicle, gestured for Mr Issa's friend to pull over and both cars turned onto Moss Lane East and parked in the bus layby.

Mr Issa's friend got out of the car, but was confronted by Mohamed, who appeared agitated and aggressive.

Mr Issa got out of the car to try to de-escalate the situation.

He was stabbed in the process and died in hospital later that evening.

The men continued a violent assault on Mr Issa's friend.

'Tragic loss'

Mohammed, of Fairy Lane, Manchester, was found guilty of murder in a hearing at Manchester Crown Court in May 2024.

He was subsequently handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 21 years.

Speaking after the sentencing, Det Chief Insp Andy Naismith said this had been "a long and difficult time for the family of Badri Issa, as they have had to wait several months for the second part of this investigation".

"Badri tragically lost his life as he tried to keep the peace and de-escalate a situation," he added.

"My thoughts will always remain with his family and friends, who have had to endure so much."
